Watercolour on Fabriano paper.
European Magpie (Eurasian Magpie or Common Magpie - Pica pica

Todays gift goes to great :iconphalalcrocorax: *phalalcrocorax!
In Asia the magpie is associated with hospitality and good fortune. In China the magpie is one of the most popular birds and is seen as the messenger of good news and fortune. Its name in Chinese literally means "bird of joy" (喜鹊). In South Korea, magpies are considered to bring good luck.
Also pine means 'longevity'.
SO I wish you long years full of joy and good luck! :D Happy birthday!

And In Australia they swoop your head and want your sandwich.

Great job on the gestural notion around the tail feathers, they complement the curve of the branch quite nicely. The use of negative white space to imply shape works quite well too. :D
